Partagás: One of Havana’s Oldest Houses

Founded by Jaime Partagás in 1845, the marque is known for a fuller style and for the Serie D No. 4 Robusto.

Robusto cigar on a dark wooden surface

Partagás is among the oldest names in Havana cigar making. The marque dates to 1845, when Jaime Partagás established his business in the city.

The founder and the factory

Jaime Partagás, originally from Catalonia, is remembered as a grower and manufacturer who took a close interest in the tobacco itself. The Partagás factory building on Calle Industria near the Capitolio became one of Havana’s landmarks and a place many visitors associated with the city’s cigar tradition. Factory arrangements have changed over time, so check current information before planning a visit.

House style

Partagás is usually described as full-flavoured and toward the stronger end of the Cuban spectrum. Strength is subjective, as our Cigar Strength Guide explains, but the reputation is consistent across many descriptions.

The Serie D No. 4

The Serie D No. 4, a Robusto, is probably the marque’s best-known cigar today. Compare it with other Robustos in Corona vs Robusto: What’s the Difference?.
